Climate in a cup

The environment has a big impact on the wonderful flavours of the coffee we all love.
The best tasting beans come from plants that grow in warm and humid equatorial regions at a height of around 1,300 metres. Temperature, rainfall and the quality of the soil are all important.
So, your coffee isn’t just coffee, it’s climate in a cup.
We’re treading lightly
That’s one of the reasons we take climate change so seriously and do everything we can to sustainably protect the environment.
It was also one of the important thoughts behind our choice of energy supplier, Octopus Energy.
Brewing the perfect espresso can take up to 1.25 kilowatts (kW), so we use quite a lot of energy in a day on top of the heating, lighting, and chilling of all those tasty treats.

Octopus has made a long-term commitment to renewable methods of power generation that produce very little CO₂. More than two thirds (69%) of all the energy they provide comes from renewable sources, compared with just under a quarter as the average for all UK energy companies.
The company is the UK’s largest investor in solar farms.
