Coffee cup neutral

One of the major High Street coffee shop chains has been talking about a ‘cup recycling revolution’ today. Their aim is to become ‘cup-neutral’ by 2020, recycling as many coffee cups each year as they put into the system.
In the UK we throw away around 2.5 billion coffee cups a year and hardly any of them are being recycled. This is on the basis that the leak-proof plastic linings make them unsuitable for recycling.
At East Roast Coffee we will be starting as we mean to go on – sustainably. That will cover everything from the roastery that provides our outstanding artisan coffee to the biodegradable cups we will be using.
No leaks, no mess. These cups are a tried and tested solution for people who don’t want to add to the country’s waste. They are made with plant-based materials – not plastic – and even the lids are compostable.
We’ll also be offering reusable ‘keep cups’, that are even more resource-friendly - just another way to reduce preventable waste. These tough cups can go in the dishwasher and microwave and don’t use things like BPA (bisphenol-A), lead and cadmium. Your coffee will taste great too!
